Anxiety & Panic
Is worry taking up more space in your life than you’d like?
Anxiety can affect both your mind and your body. You might find yourself constantly worrying about what has happened, what might happen, or situations that feel difficult to control. Perhaps you’re experiencing panic, racing thoughts, sleeplessness, palpitations, dizziness or a sense that something bad is going to happen.
Counselling can help you understand your anxiety and what may be maintaining it, while developing ways to respond differently when anxiety arises. Depending on what feels right for you, we may explore practical strategies, mindfulness or CBT-informed approaches alongside the wider therapeutic relationship.
Bereavement & Loss
Wondering how you will find your way through grief?
Grief is a natural response to loss, but there is no single way to grieve and no timetable for how long it should take. You may experience sadness, anger, guilt, shock, fear, loneliness or emotions that seem difficult to make sense of.
As C.S. Lewis wrote, “No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear.”
Loss isn’t only about the death of someone we love. It can also involve the loss of a relationship, health, work, identity, hopes or a way of life.
Counselling offers a space where you don’t have to make sense of everything alone. I can be alongside you as you find ways to understand your grief, adjust to what has changed and gradually find your own way forward.
Depression & Low Mood
Have you been feeling low, disconnected or unlike yourself?
Low mood can affect how you see yourself, your relationships and the world around you. You may have lost motivation or enjoyment, feel exhausted or hopeless, or find yourself caught in patterns of thinking that are difficult to shift.
Counselling provides an opportunity to understand what you’re experiencing and what may be contributing to it. Together, we can explore what matters to you, identify small steps towards change and, where helpful, draw on approaches such as CBT and solution-focused techniques.
Relationships
Do you find yourself caught in relationship patterns that you would like to change?
Relationships can be a source of connection and joy, but they can also leave us feeling hurt, frustrated, misunderstood or stuck. Perhaps you are struggling with communication, conflict, boundaries, trust or patterns that seem to repeat.
Whether you’re seeking individual counselling to understand your relationships differently, or couples counselling to work through difficulties together, therapy can provide a space to explore what is happening and consider new ways of relating.
Self Esteem & Confidence
Have you lost confidence in yourself or find it difficult to recognise your own strengths?
Low self-esteem can affect how you see yourself, your relationships and the choices you make. You may find yourself caught in patterns of thinking and behaving that leave you feeling stuck, self-critical or unable to express what you need.
Counselling can help you explore these patterns, develop a more compassionate and helpful view of yourself, and recognise your strengths and qualities. Together, we can work towards greater self-acceptance, confidence and choice in how you respond to life’s challenges.
Sleep
Are worries or difficult emotions making it hard to switch off?
Poor sleep can leave you feeling exhausted, irritable and less able to cope with everyday life. Sometimes sleep difficulties are connected with anxiety, stress, low mood or significant life changes; at other times, they can become a source of worry in their own right.
Counselling can help you explore what may be affecting your sleep and the thoughts, emotions and patterns that can make it difficult to switch off. We can consider practical strategies alongside the underlying issues that may be keeping you awake.
Stress
Do you feel like life has become too much to manage?
Stress can build when demands, pressures or difficult life events begin to exceed the resources you normally draw on to cope. Perhaps you’ve experienced a significant change such as relationship difficulties, bereavement, redundancy, financial pressures, health concerns or problems at work. Sometimes there isn’t one obvious cause—you may simply feel overwhelmed, exhausted or unable to switch off.
Counselling can provide space to step back and understand what is contributing to your stress. Together, we can explore what you need, identify your existing strengths and consider practical ways of coping that feel realistic for you.
Trauma, PTSD & Complex PTSD
Are past experiences still affecting how you feel, relate to others or cope with everyday life?
Traumatic experiences can continue to affect us long after the event itself has passed. You may experience anxiety, emotional distress, difficulties in relationships, feeling constantly on alert, or a sense of disconnection from yourself or others.
I offer therapy for people experiencing the effects of trauma, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD).
Trauma therapy is not about rushing into difficult memories. We will work at a pace that feels manageable and appropriate for you. Our work may involve developing safety and stabilisation, creating space to gently process and make sense of what has happened through remembrance and mourning, and gradually moving towards integration and reconnection with yourself, other people and your life.
The therapeutic relationship is central to this process. Together, we can work towards greater understanding, choice and a sense of safety and possibility for the future.
